925 Sterling Silver vs. Solid Gold

925 Sterling Silver is made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, typically copper, creating an alloy that gives Sterling Silver its signature shine + strength while still being affordable.

Solid Gold, on the other hand, embraces a spectrum of karat weights, including 10k, 14k, and 18k. These karat weights signify the purity of gold within the alloy. Let's dive into the specifics:

    10k gold = 41.7% pure gold

    14k gold = 58.3% pure gold

    18k gold = 75% pure gold

The choice between 10k, 14k, and 18k solid gold depends on your personal preferences and priorities. 18k solid gold, with its higher gold content, offers a greater level of richness and value, while 10k and 14k solid gold provide a balance of durability and affordability.

    What is Moissanite?

Moissanite is made of silicon-carbide. It is a naturally occurring gemstone, but most Moissanite nowadays is lab-created. This gemstone falls at a 9.25 on the Moh's Hardness Scale, making it a great gemstone for everyday wear as it is strong, durable and can last a lifetime with care.

The 4 C's: Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat Weight

    Cut

The cut of your gemstone greatly affects the appearance and brilliance. Similar to Diamonds, Moissanites are cut in a specific way to maximize their brilliance. When referring to cut, it is not referring to shape but rather the symmetry and proportioning of the Moissanite. All of our Moissanites are Ideal Cut.

    Clarity

Clarity refers to the presence of internal or external flaws, also known as inclusions or blemishes, within the moissanite. Moissanites typically have few to no visible inclusions, which means they are highly transparent and eye-clean. When choosing a moissanite, look for stones with a clarity grade of VVS (Very, Very Slightly Included) or VS (Very Slightly Included) for the best visual clarity.

    Color

Moissanites naturally occur in a range of colors, with varying degrees of colorlessness. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) grades moissanite on a color scale, ranging from D (colorless) to K (faint yellow or brown). For the most breathtaking and diamond-like appearance, opt for moissanites with a color grade of D to G, as they will appear nearly colorless in your jewelry.

    Carat Weight

Carat weight is the measure of a moissanite's size and weight. It's important to note that a moissanite's carat weight does not necessarily correlate with its physical size. For example, a well-cut moissanite may appear larger than a poorly cut one of the same carat weight. Consider your jewelry design and personal preferences when selecting the carat weight that suits your needs. Moissanites are available in a wide range of sizes to fit your specific requirements.
